Dementia Active home care & Companionship

What you can expect from the Carers / Companions we recommend

All the Self- Employed Carers / Companions have had DBS certificates issued within the last 3 years and are held on file.

Similarity they also have carers liability insurance, and a self-employed UTR number.

The Self-Employed Carers have or are working towards completing an online course, in 'Medication Training For Care' and 'Moving and Handling People in Health and Social Care'

'Dementia Active home care & Companionship' is managed by Dementia Active CIC.

Activities Undertaken

Assisting with daily activities – Bathing, dressing, and
meal preparation
Providing emotional support – Engaging in conversation
and companionship
Administering basic medical care – Assisting with
medications and monitoring health conditions
Helping with mobility – Supporting members with
walking aids or transfers
Maintaining a safe environment – Keeping living spaces
clean and comfortable.

Self-employed Carer

The self-employed carer will charge a fixed hourly rate for each care session, covering various activities.

This requires agreement from the carer, and the individual or their family.
Dementia Active CIC will collect the payment on the carers behalf, from the individual or their family, contingent to the submission of a valid online 'time sheet'. The payment will be collected through GoCardless. The funds will be transferred to the carer, once received.

Dementia Active CIC will ask for a 5% suggested donation for Dementia Active charity, which is voluntary and in addition to any payment made to the carer. (This donation is eligible for Gift Aid).

Andrew Gill - Dementia Care

Andy is the founder of a new and innovative service which provides daytime activities for people living with dementia.

He has a wide experience of care services for older people including working as a home carer, providing support to enable people with dementia to stay in their own homes. As a result of his first wife’s diagnosis with a rare form of vascular dementia in 2016 he is therefore acutely aware of how difficult life can be in trying to support  a loved one and give them the best life has to offer.

His aim along with the rest of the Dementia Active team is to provide a safe and welcoming environment, where people with dementia can relax and join in activities designed to support and maintain their ability levels. Crucially this provides family members with some much needed time to themselves.

Andy has a particular interest in developing activities using the principles underlying Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST).

This seeks to stimulate and utilise people’s cognitive strengths in order to help them maintain their lives in their own homes.

Richie Bassinder - United homecare

Hello, my name is Sharon. I have worked within the health and social care sector for over 25 Years.

I previously worked within a domiciliary agency, where I was a carer that worked their way up to sector manager. However, I preferred to be hands on providing individuals with person centred care that was catered to them and their needs so for the last 15 years I have worked as a self-employed PA/Carer.

I provide a huge range of services, and work alongside some other great PAs to ensure you have the care you deserve.

I have extensive training and qualifications in different sectors of adult social care including palliative care, dementia care and diabetic care as well as a full NVQ Level 3.

I pride myself in always developing and improving myself and my skills so that you have top quality care at all times.

My training and hands-on experience also include manual handling, dementia care, palliative care, diabetes management, medication assistance, and safeguarding for both adults and children.

I offer reliable, professional care that’s tailored to each individual’s needs, with a focus on maintaining dignity, promoting independence, and supporting wellbeing. Whether you’re looking for day-to-day assistance, companionship, or specialised care, I bring a calm, caring, and capable approach to every situation.  If you're looking for a supportive and experienced PA who truly values the people he works with, I’d be happy to chat about how I can help.  I also work alongside a great group of experienced, and qualified PAs to ensure you all care needs are met.
