The Carterton Food Angels
The Carterton Food Angels is an organisation dedicated to helping us and others with the distribution of surplus, excess and unwanted food. With rising costs, this partnership will allow Dementia Active to continue offering hot meals to our members.
Collaborating with the Food Angels at the newly acquired Carterton Day Centre enables Dementia Active to host daily groups for individuals with dementia, offering much-needed respite for their partners or carers.
Together, the Food Angels and Dementia Active, supported by volunteers, will conduct a range of 'dementia-friendly' activities throughout the week, including the 'Wednesday Warm Spaces Hub'.

Teresa has been managing the Carterton Food Angels, a food bank, since 2020 and also initiated a warm hub in 2022. Sadly, Teresa's father passed away due to dementia.

Since 2020, Richard has worked alongside Teresa at Carterton Food Angels. He is eager to offer support to members at Dementia Active in Carterton as his schedule permits.

Georgina has contributed to a dance and dementia course funded by the local council while residing in Bournemouth post-university. She has also completed her training as a Parkinson's dance instructor and dedicated time to volunteering. This training has equipped Georgina to support individuals with Parkinson's and dementia. With three years of experience, she is now introducing Dementia Active to the community.
