We have been absorbing the latest news regarding a new lockdown and trying to work out what to do for the best. We have loved re-opening the groups and the thought of needing to close again is really upsetting. The information on the government website regarding support groups being able to stay open remains the same as was published in August. So in theory we would be able to continue running groups during this next few weeks. However we said to you in an email back in August that we would never take any risks with the health and welfare of our members and therefore we have taken the decision today that we must close for the duration of the lockdown. Although Oxfordshire as a whole has a lower rate of infections than the national average - 110 per 100,000 in the week ending 28/10, as compared to the national average of 149 per 100,000, Cherwell for instance has a higher rate of 147 per 100,000, just below the national average. These figures are obviously only a guide but our main concern is the risk of transmission from children as long as schools remain open.
As the new lockdown will only come into force from one minute past midnight Thursday 5th Nov we will run the Monday Holton group and Tuesday Bucknell (Bicester) group as normal.
We will let members know the minute circumstances change enabling us to re-open and hopefully this will be in four weeks time. All being well the first group to start up again will be in Holton at the village hall on Wednesday December 2nd.
